Fire advisory now in place for GPFA

UPDATE: The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie, Peace River, Slave Lake and Whitecourt Forest Areas is rated high.

All four now have fire advisories in place.

Existing permits are still valid but new permits will only be issued for essential burning and on a case-by-case basis.

Any burning without a permit, other than a campfire, is prohibited.

The wildfire hazard is rated moderate in the High Level Forest Area.

There is now a fire advisory in place for the Grande Prairie Forest Area because of the wind and dry conditions.

The advisory means existing permits are still valid but new permits will only be issued for essential burning and on a case-by-case basis.

Any burning without a permit, other than a campfire, is prohibited.

People are asked to never leave campfires unattended and clear debris from moving parts on any equipment.

People are also asked not to operate equipment in tall grass.

The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Management Area is rated high.
