Provincial boost for surgical funding to have more cataract surgeries in Grande Prairie
A recent announcement from the province about more money for surgeries means a big increase in the number of cataract surgeries that can be done in Grande Prairie.
Alberta Health Press Secretary Scott Johnston says in an email to EverythingGP that upgrades will be made at the QE II that will allow for another 1,600 cataract procedures to be done here annually.
Alberta Health Services says in a statement that upgrades at the QE II Ambulatory Care Centre to allow for more cataract procedures are still in the early planning stages and βis part of a larger plan for repurposing the QE II Ambulatory Care Centre.β
AHS says the exact location for the cataract program has not been finalized.
