City receives grant to support GPICC
The Grande Prairie Inclusive and Caring Community Initiative is receiving a financial boost courtesy of the provincial government,
A Settlement, Integration, and Language Project grant from the province, totaling $300,000 has been given to the City to support the local program, which focuses on building community capacity to attract and retain newcomers, educate employers, and enhance service provider knowledge.
The end goal is to create an inclusive and welcoming community, where the voices of everyone are heard, valued, and understood.
The City hopes that by the end of this two-year grant, they will be able to accomplish several items through the GPICC, including an increased awareness of resources and services or program opportunities to support the settlement and integration of newcomers, as well as an increased knowledge of newcomer needs.
