MANILA, Philippines — The Canadian men’s basketball team will play France, Latvia and Lebanon in Group H at the 2023 FIBA World Cup this summer.

Canada, which is 15th in the FIBA world rankings, qualified for the World Cup back in November after securing first place in qualification.

France is ranked fifth in the world and plans to have projected first-overall NBA draft pick Victor Wembanyama on its roster. Latvia and Lebanon are ranked 29th and 43rd, respectively.

The tournament runs from Aug. 25 to Sept. 10, with games taking place in Manila, Philippines, Jakarta, Indonesia and Okinawa, Japan. Canada is in one of two groups playing the group stage in Jakarta.

Teams from each group will face one another in round-robin play, with the top two teams advancing to the next round. The bottom two teams then play in a classification tournament.

Canada will play exhibition games against host Spain (Aug. 17) and Argentina (Aug. 18) in Granada ahead of the tournament.
