May 3, 2023 | 2:38 PM

Six schools within the Grande Prairie Public School District will have new vice principals when the 2023-24 school year launches in September.

Three of them are transferring from V-P roles at other schools within the district, including Jake Roberts going from Roy Bickell to Alexander Forbes school, Gillian Rutberg moving from Forbes to Hillside Community School, and Spencer Pinnock moving from Hillside to Charles Spencer High School.

The other three are taking on vice principal roles for the first time in their teaching careers.

They include Stephanie Murphy at Ecole Montrose, Lee Brentnell at Composite High School, and Gerry-Lynn McCann at Roy Bickell.

GPPSD Superintendent Sandy McDonald said in a news release “Everyone in our system is responsible for supporting the success of our students, and ensuring we select strong candidates for these critical roles is important.”

McDonald added, “We have been focused on developing the instructional leadership capabilities of our leadership teams to support optimum learning experiences for all students, and the individuals we are recognizing today have all demonstrated excellence, either as teachers or as Vice Principals in their current roles.”
