May 5, 2023 | 2:40 PM

A 26-year-old man is in custody and has a Monday court date in Peace River after an incident earlier this week near Grimshaw.

RCMP say they received reports on Wednesday of a man with a firearm, making threats in a rural area near Grimshaw and Roma.

Residents in that area were asked to shelter in place, as Mounties from Grimshaw, Peace River, Grande Prairie, High Prairie, and McLennan conducted a search, along with the Police Dog Service and Crime Reduction Unit.

Later that afternoon, the Police Dog service tracked down a suspect, and an arrest was made.

26-year-old Hayes Dale Robert Fuller-Garand of no fixed address was charged with one count each of Assault, Assault with a weapon causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, mischief, break and enter indecent communication, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He also faces two counts of possession of a weapon contrary to an order.
