Average rental rates slightly lower in April in Grande Prairie

It was slightly cheaper on average to rent a one or two bedroom unit in Grande Prairie last month.

According to the latest National Rent Report done by Rentals.ca and Urbanation, average rent for a one bedroom suite in Grande Prairie was $1,010 in April, down five dollars from March.

A two bedroom unit in the Swan City averaged at around $1,184 in April, down from $1,193 the previous month.

Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, and Lloydminster were not included in the list of top 35 Canadian city rental rates.

One bedroom units averaged $1,104 a month in April in Fort McMurray, and $811 in Lloydminster.

Two bedroom units averaged $1,309 and $933 in April in Fort McMurray and Lloydminster respectively.

As for Alberta cities on the national list: Calgary was 27, Lethbridge 31, Edmonton was 32, and Red Deer came in 33.

Nationally, the report showed the average asking price in Canada for all property types was $2,002.

That is a 20 per cent increase over the pandemic-low in April of 2021, but relatively unchanged from figures released for March of this year
