National recognition for Grande Prairie photographer

May 24, 2023 | 10:00 PM

Three works by a Grande Prairie photographer have been included among some of the best in Canada.

Silje Ask of Wyldwood Photography submitted four photos for judging at the recent annual conference of the Professional Photographers of Canada held in Canmore.

Three images, all of which show dogs, were picked to be in the group’s National Image Salon.

“I only started getting serious about photography in 2020 after having my first daughter. But once I started digging into the science and creativity behind photography I was hooked,” says Silje in an email to EverythingGP.

“I love spending time outdoors, and am always on the lookout for new scenes and hidden beauty. Having two small children makes for a busy life but I always strive to make time to further myself and continue to develop my technique.”

A release from the Professional Photographers of Canada says the submissions are judged by what is described as a panel of master photographers.

The release goes on to say that this not only shows the ability of the photographers, but offers the chance at several designations from the Professional Photographers of Canada.
