The Evacuation Order for the area south of Township Road 690, between Highway 40 and the BC Border has been lifted.

All residents in the identified area south of Grovedale in the MD of Greenview can return home but must remain prepared to evacuate on short notice.

The Bald Mountain wildfire continues to burn but was downgraded to being held at an estimated 19,435 hectares.

Alberta Wildfire is predicting that the fire is unlikely to spread with the wildfire danger rating now at low thanks to the precipitation earlier in the week.

The fire is 17 km west of Highway 40 and crossed the Bald Mountain Road to the east, in proximity to the intersection of Odum Ridge Road and Bald Mountain Road to the south.

Crews continue to establish and finish control lines and reclaim some of the guard that was lost, as well as securing a 50-foot perimeter on the northwest and southeast corners.

Forty-seven firefighters, five helicopters, eight pieces of heavy equipment, four water trucks, and various water transport equipment were working on the wildfire as of Wednesday.

A province-wide OHV and fire ban are still in effect despite the plentiful rainfall received across the region.
