Fire hazards rated moderate

Grande Prairie

The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is now rated moderate.

The off-highway vehicle restriction has been lifted but the fire restriction remains in place.

Outdoor wood and charcoal fires in backcountry and random camping areas, and the use of fireworks and exploding targets, are prohibited.

The Sturgeon Lake complex and Bald Mountain wildfires are considered under control.

Peace River

The wildfire hazard is also rated moderate in the Peace River Forest Area, where a fire restriction also remains in place.

A mandatory evacuation order for the Peavine Metis Settlement has been downgraded to an alert.

The Peace River Banks/Cleardale wildfire is now listed as being held at 47,486 hectares.

The Kimiwan Complex is still listed as out of control at just under 120,000 hectares.

Whitecourt

The wildfire hazard is also rated moderate in the Whitecourt Forest Area and the same fire restriction is still in place.

The fires burning in the Fox Creek area are still considered out of control at 73,479 hectares but did not grow towards Fox Creek.

Wildfire watchers say crews had a successful day of attacking and putting out hot spots.
