Provincial Election

Provincial election day today

May 29, 2023 | 6:00 AM

It is provincial election day in Alberta.

Polls are open from 9 AM to 8 PM. Eligible voters should have got voter cards in the mail telling them where their polling station is located. If not, you can also check the Elections Alberta website.

There are six candidates running in Grande Prairie and three in Grande Prairie-Wapiti. Both will have new MLAs as Tracy Allard and Travis Toews are not seeking re-election.

Central Peace-Notley has five candidates, Peace River has four, and Lesser Slave Lake has three.

The names and parties of all the candidates can be found under the AB Votes tab on our website.

At dissolution, the United Conservative Party held 60 seats in the legislature and the New Democrats 23. There were also two Independent MLAs and two vacancies.

There are 87 constituencies involved in this election as well, meaning 44 seats are needed to form a majority government.
