Blossoming Garden of Hope grand opening set for Thursday

An invitation is being extended to the community by Tiny Hands of Hope, The Compassionate Friends Grande Prairie Chapter, and Northwestern Alberta Foundation to join in on the ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony for the Blossoming Garden of Hope.

The event is set to start at 4 p.m. and features a free barbeque and cake. As well, attendees can learn all about the different pieces in the garden and their meanings.

The garden was completed in October 2022, and built to offer a peaceful environment for families that have experienced the loss of a child, regardless of age.

This garden was a community-driven initiative, as Tiny Hands of Hope and the Compassionate Friends Grande Prairie Chapter worked with the City of Grande Prairie to get the property and location.

The garden has now been delegated as a city responsibility and crews will work to maintain the space so it can continue to offer hope, comfort, and healing to all visitors.

The event will run from 4 to 7 p.m., while the ribbon cutting ceremony is expected to get underway at 5 p.m. at Maskwôtêh Park on 108 Street and 116 Avenue.
