Peace Regional RCMP looking for wanted man

UPDATE:

Peace Regional RCMP has located and arrested a wanted male, Kyle Edward Omiayak.

On July 12, Peace Regional RCMP with assistance from, the Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, Police Dog Services, and Air Services, attended a home in Cadotte Lake, and after a short search, located Omiayak hiding in the couch.

While being apprehended Omiayak resisted arrest, which led to him being subdued.

During the arrest, Omiayak and a responding officer both sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital to be treated, then released.

The officer continues to recover his injured hand at home.

Omiayak has received three additional charges:

  • Attempt to disarm an officer.
  • Resisting arrest.
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Omiayak was remanded into custody, with a court date set for July 18 in Peace River.

Peace Regional RCMP say they are looking for a wanted man.

Mounties had gone to a Cadotte Lake residence at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, to look for Kyle Ominayak.

The 28-year-old man is wanted on several outstanding warrants.

Police surrounded the home, but a suspect fled into the bush.

Ominayak is described as 5’8″, 165 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.

People are being cautioned that if they do see him that they should not approach him and should call 9-1-1 instead.
