Grande Prairie RCMP caution of jewelry scam making rounds in the area

Grande Prairie RCMP are warning the public about another scam that is allegedly making the rounds in the area.

They say there has been a recent increase in gold jewelry scams, which typically see people approach another person, stating that they have a problem and that they need money.

They offer to sell their gold jewelry in exchange for cash.

But when the victim tries to resell the jewelry in order to recoup the cash, they find out that the jewelry is actually fake.

Police ask that if you are approached by anyone in this manner, you avoid getting involved and report the incident to RCMP as soon as you can.

They ask if possible, you should include information like licence plates, and photos of the suspects or their vehicle as part of your report.
