UPDATE: Grande Prairie RCMP investigate serious collision on Highway 2

UPDATE:

Highway 672 at Highway 2 is now open and emergency services have cleared the scene.

Early RCMP investigations indicate the pick-up truck was travelling northbound on Highway 2 and went to turn west onto Highway 672, and that is when the collision occurred.

ˇThe 63-year-old driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the pick-up is physically unharmed.

At this time, RCMP continues to investigate this incident.

Grande Prairie RCMP, Fire, and Emergency Services all responded to a serious collision that took place on Friday, July 7, on Highway 2 at Highway 672.

At 1:50 p.m. crews responded to a serious collision between a motorcycle and a pick-up truck, which resulted in the driver of the motorcycle, being deceased.

Traffic is now being re-routed at Highway 2 and Township Road 734, as Highway 672 west and eastbound lanes at Highway 2 are blocked.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and traffic delays should be expected until mounties can finish examing the scene.

Grande Prairie RCMP would like to send their condolences to family and friends affected by this tragedy.
