City Hall says in a Facebook post that a one-in-100-year weather event was recorded at the fire hall on Resources Road during the thunderstorm Monday night.

The fire hall’s data shows that the maximum rainfall intensity reached 76.71 millimetres for a 30-minute period and 43.18 for an hour, levels only seen once every 100 years.

The intensity levels for 15 minutes and two hours reached once every 50-year levels.

The post also says a storm pond in County Club Estates that was dry before the storm was full after (pictured above), showing the important role ponds and roads play in drainage and flood prevention.

The storm Monday brought heavy rain, thunder, lightning and knocked out power for over six hours to parts of Grande Prairie.
