Over 20 Peace region athletes in Halifax for North American Indigenous Games

Events at the 2023 North American Indigenous Games kicked off Monday in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Twenty-three athletes from across the greater Peace region are apart of various Team Alberta events, hoping to bring home hardware and bragging rights. The talented youth are between 15 and 19 years old.

Emma Lynn Noskey of Grande Prairie is competing in two Athletics events in the U19 Female category: 4×400 Relay and 4×100 Relay.

The U16 Female Volleyball team features:

  • Kendyl Mohr from Grande Prairie
  • Melissa Badger from Sexsmith
  • Honey Auger from High Prairie

The U16 Male Volleyball team has:

  • Kashis Gabriel Boucher-Lizotte from Paddle Prairie
  • Jace Laboucane from Paddle Prairie
  • Mac Ben Lario from Sexsmith

The U19 Female Volleyball team has three athletes from Grande Prairie:

  • Savannah Lambert
  • Samantha Elaine Darlene Langdon
  • Erin Noskey

The U19 Male Volleyball team has:

  • Jacob Jonathan Courtielle from Grimshaw/High Level
  • Jackson McGillivary from Manning
  • Rayden John Micheal McGillivary from Paddle Prairie
  • David James Villiger from Beaverlodge

Dylan Wasylciw of Grande Prairie is on the U16 Male Basketball team.

On the U19 Male Softball team is:

  • Chake Hamelin from High Prairie
  • Curly White Eagle Letendre from Grande Cache

Charleigh Ada Marie Norquay of Clairmont is on the U19 Female Softball team. Kassiandra Hamelin of High Prairie was named as an alternate with the team.

The U19 Soccer teams have three Grande Prairie athletes on them:

  • Male
    • Logan Reid
  • Female
    • Medea Jane Chiba
    • Natalie Nicole Kirk

Justin Alexander St. Germain of Grande Prairie is on the Box Lacrosse U19 Male team.

Abbie Cottingham and Elle Felicity Yvonne McIntosh, both of High Prairie are competing in the 4x50m Swimming Relay U19 Female.

Madison and Omayja Cardinal of Grande Prairie are on the wrestling team.

Jarryn Haggerty of High Prairie is on the U19 male softball team.

The 2023 North American Indigenous Games wrap up on Sunday, July 23. All events are being live-streamed on their YouTube channel.
