Multi-month drug investigation leads to four arrests and drug seizures

Following a multi-month investigation into drug trafficking, Grande Prairie RCMP, with support from Edmonton Alert, has arrested and charged four people.

The investigation started last fall. Three search warrants have been executed at numerous properties across Grande Prairie since then. This led to the seizure of what police believe to be 1,598 grams of cocaine, 948 grams of fentanyl, and 3,154 grams of meth, along with 87 cartons of illegal cigarettes.

Hananluiza Alshawabkeh (25), a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance x 3
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x 3
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000

Following a judicial hearing, Alshawabkeh was released from custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice Grande Prairie on July 26, 2023.

Faisal Huoseh (25), a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance x 3

Following a judicial hearing, Huoseh was released from custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice Grande Prairie on July 24, 2023.

Kaitlin Mulek (30), a resident of Edmonton has been charged with

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance x 5
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x 3
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000

Following a judicial hearing, Mulek was released from custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice Grande Prairie on August 2, 2023.

John Medina (26), a resident of Calgary has been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x 3

Medina was released on an undertaking to appear in Alberta Court of Justice Grande Prairie on July 24, 2023.

Mounties are also currently looking for Elwood Fraser, a 53-year-old resident of Grande Prairie, who is wanted on three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Grande Prairie RCMP Municipal Drug Unit Sergeant Eldon Chillog said in a release, it was apparent that the individuals were using short-term rentals to operate, and he encourages all residents who come across illegal or drug paraphernalia left by tenants, to contact the police.
