Wanted man arrested by Grande Prairie RCMP, police vehicle rammed and officers bear sprayed in the process

Jul 20, 2023 | 3:26 PM

Grande Prairie RCMP say they have arrested a man from the Swan City wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

Just before 7:30 p.m. on July 13, police located the wanted man but the vehicle he was in sped away. Police did not give chase out of concern for public safety.

The next day at around 8:45 p.m., Mounties located the same vehicle parked in an alley near 98 Avenue and 111 Street.

The vehicle rammed a police truck several times. The suspect then used bear spray that hit several offices.

The suspect ran away but was tracked down and arrested.

Thirty-five-year-old Jamison Hudgins is facing five counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, two more of flight from police, and other charges that include resisting arrest.

He has been remanded and is due in Grande Prairie court July 24.

Two officers and the suspect had to be treated at the scene for what RCMP describe as “minor physical injuries.”
