Communities in Bloom visiting Sexsmith in August

A volunteer-led organization will be in Sexsmith on August 2, with judges to evaluate the community.

Administered by Alberta Recreation and Parks Association, Communities in Bloom’s goal is to make Canadian communities, healthier, happier, and more beautiful by promoting community involvement, and growing green spaces that all residents can use for recreation or leisure.

Sexsmith is one of the 15 stops Communities in Bloom has in Alberta. The judges will evaluate the community on the following criteria:

• Community Appearance
• Environmental Action
• Heritage Conservation
• Tree Management
• Landscaping
• Plant & Floral Displays

Following the visit, each community will then be assigned a bloom rating, which will rate the contributions by municipal councils, departments, local businesses, and volunteers.
