Sheane named President and CEO at NWP on an acting basis

Jul 27, 2023 | 3:08 PM

A news release posted to its website says Northwestern Polytechnic has a new President and CEO.

Dr. Vanessa Sheane has taken over the role on an acting basis from Justin Kohlman.

Sheane was named to the role by the board on Wednesday, July 26. The release does not give any reason for Kohlman’s departure. It does say Sheane was named to the role to “oversee a renewed approach to collaboration with community and government stakeholders.”

A Facebook post from NWP thanks Kohlman for his service and the release says his “service has also been recognized by the Board.”

Sheane is originally from Fairview and has worked at NWP for 12 years, most recently as provost and Vice President Academics.

Sheane added the following in that same news release.

“As a long-time resident of the region, I am committed to ensuring NWP does its utmost to attract and serve our students and communities. I will continue our long tradition of collaborating with NWP stakeholders to ensure their essential contributions are reflected in our programs and growth plans.”

“NWP has a bright future providing high-value educational experiences to the next generation of leaders. Albertans can be assured that NWP is committed to our municipal, industry, and community stakeholders. We have a plan to grow our presence and value in Alberta’s post-secondary sector. I look forward to working together in the months ahead.”
