Dawson Creek to host another Hockey Canada event in November

Jul 28, 2023 | 6:00 AM

Dawson Creek has been named the host for another Hockey Canada tournament.

The 2023 National Women’s Under-18 Championship will be played at the Ovintiv Events Centre November 5 to 11.

A release calls this a showcase of Canadian women’s under-18 hockey and a chance for Hockey Canada scouts to evaluate players from across the country.

Eight teams will represent their home provinces or regions.

Dawson Creek hosted this same event in 2012 and has hosted a summer camp for the 2010 women’s Olympic team.

The Mile 0 City has also hosted the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge twice and the 2019 World Junior A Challenge.

“We knew after signing a historic long-term hosting agreement with Hockey Canada that we would see a variety of events come to Dawson Creek. Having the 2023 National Women’s Under-18 Championship and its legacy of National Team Alumni is an opportunity for the hockey fans of the region to see some of the very best. We are thrilled to showcase Dawson Creek, the Peace Region and the Ovintiv Events Centre to the world as we prepare to host another prestigious event,” says Dawson Creek Mayor Darcy Dober in a release.

Ticket packages are on sale.
