Spruce Grove man charged after robbery in Peace River

Aug 12, 2023 | 2:21 PM

Peace Regional RCMP say a Spruce Grove man has been charged after a robbery in Peace River.

Mounties got a report of a robbery at a Fas Gas location just after 10:30 Thursday night. The suspect held a knife on the clerk, took money from the till and left on foot.

Police say they contained the area and called in the Police Dog Service.

The man called out to police, saying he was in the bushes by the river bed. He was taken in after what Mounties call “a short confrontation.”

Twenty-five-year-old Darcey Lloyd Brett is facing charges of robbery with an offensive weapon, disguise with intent, mischief under $5000 and resisting arrest.

Brett has been released on bail with conditions. He is due in court September 11.

RCMP are still looking for second suspect they believe was acting as a lookout.

He is described as 5’9″, with a slim build and a light complexion. He was wearing a black cap with a red brim and a black T-shirt. He also had a neck tattoo and was carrying a black backpack.

Mounties are asking for the public’s help in locating this second suspect.
