Fire Advisory

Fire Advisory in place for the Grande Prairie Forest Management Area

Aug 21, 2023 | 5:31 PM

The Grande Prairie Forest Management Area is now under a fire advisory, as hot and dry conditions continue to sweep across western Canada. Creating perfect conditions for wildfires, that are forcing thousands out of there homes.

Under this advisory, existing fire permits are still valid and new fire permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis, however, burning without a valid fire permit is prohibited.

Safe wood campfires, backyard fire pits, portable propane fire pits, catalytic or infrared-style heaters, gas or propane stoves, and barbecues are still allowed during the advisory

Alberta Wildfire would also like to remind residents to never leave a campfire unattended, and always follow the soak, stir, and soak again method.

Since the start of this historical wildfire season, nearly 141,435 hectares of GPFMA have been burnt.

If you see a wildfire, report it immediately, by calling 310-FIRE.
