A free quilting showcase event is set to take over the Grande Prairie Museum for four days starting on September 7.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said in a release, “Crafters, quilters, and enthusiasts are invited to come enjoy this unique quilting showcase and visit the Textile Tales exhibit during their visit to the Grande Prairie Museum.”

The Quilt Showcase, in partnership with the Northern Piecemakers Quilt Guild, encourages craft hobby enthusiasts to come enjoy each other’s company and celebrate a similar interest.

The event will host a number of free activities for residents to participate in, including;

  • Create a Quilt
  • Quilt Show
  • Quilt Draw

The event kicks off Thursday, September 7, at 7 p.m. with a lecture from Pam Roberston Rivet, titled Bringing Back World War II Quilts Back to Canada.

The event is free to attend, however, anyone interested will need to pre-book by calling the Museum, at at 780-830-7090.

The rest of the event will run during the Museum’s regular scheduled business hours:

  • Friday, September 8: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 9 & Sunday, September 10: Noon to 6 p.m.
