Sep 12, 2023 | 1:12 PM

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership has released information for Northwest Territory evacuees from the South Slave region for re-entry to their homes.

As of Tuesday, September 12, pre-registration for re-entry flights is available for evacuees from Hay River, Kʼatlodeeche First Nation, and Fort Smith. Pre-registration will be open until Thursday, September 14 at 8:00 P.M.

A return date and time for those in the community of Hay River is still unknown at the time this article was written, but the Town of Hay River has released details of their re-entry plan and resources for re-entry.

GPREP says they are not the resource responsible for community social services or emergencies, and those needing assistance should contact 9-1-1 for emergencies and the RCMP non-emergency line at 780-830-5700 to report any concerns.

GPREP also notes they are only responsible for providing basic emergency support of lodging and food for evacuees and are also providing transit and recreation services.

No new evacuees are being accepted in Grande Prairie as there is not enough accommodations in the area.

The Evacuee Reception Centre Phone Line operates from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It can be reached at 780-876-4910
