Grande Prairie-born Rebels player commits to USASK

Sep 15, 2023 | 1:27 PM

Grande Prairie-born Red Deer Rebel Jace Isley has announced his intentions for next season, after aging out of the Western Hockey League.

Isley put up 30 goals and added 26 assists, for a career-high 56 points in 67 games last season with the Rebels, and was looking for an opportunity to pursue his dream of playing pro hockey.

However, the only professional offer he received following the 2023-24 campaign was a two-way deal with the San Jose Sharks affiliate in the East Coast Hockey League, (ECHL) with a chance of cracking their American Hockey League Roster. (AHL)

Isley then decided he wanted to take his talents east and get an education, signing with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to play in USports.

However, he still hasn’t given up his professional hockey dream, as he has been invited to the New Jersey Devils rookie camp in September, with hopes of signing a one-way deal with their AHL affiliate.

Isley wrapped up his WHL career playing four seasons with the Rebels, notching 52 goals and 41 assists for 103 points.
