Wanham volleyball player in China for Women’s Olympic Qualifier

Matches start Saturday in Ningbo, China, for Team Canada at the Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournament for volleyball.

The Peace region’s Quinn Pelland is #26 on the women’s team, she is from Wanham.

Canada is in a pool with China, Serbia, the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands, Czechia, Mexico, and Ukraine.

Each pool is played in a single round-robin format and is ranked per the standard team rankings. The top two teams in each pool will qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

The Canadian women’s first match is against the Netherlands.

Pelland and her team captured the bronze medal in their most recent tournament at the NORCECA Senior Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship in Quebec City on September 3.

The qualifier tournament goes until September 24.
