Chateh evacuation & Meander River wildfire situation

The Community of Chateh was issued an evacuation order on Friday evening, (September 22) due to an encroaching wildfire.

In the Alberta Emergency Alert, the wildfire is reported to be burning southeast of the community, heading north, and becoming a danger for residents.

Everyone in the community was told to gather their supplies and head to the 400 Evacuation Camp in High Level.

A second blaze, near the neighbouring community, Meander River has caused a Wildfire Alert.

Residents in and near Meander River must be prepared to evacuate. Due to a wildfire southwest of the community, burning north.

At this time, no evacuation is required but residents should gather the necessities and be prepared to head to High Level.
