Grande Prairie Peace Officer arrested for child pornography

A Peace Officer employed by the City of Grande Prairie has been arrested and charged with child sexual exploitation offences.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested 32-year-old Daniel Emond on September 21 with assistance from Grande Prairie RCMP.

An investigation found that child exploitation materials had been shared through social media channels. A computer and several electronic have been seized.

Emond was released from custody on multiple court-imposed conditions and is set to appear in court on October 11.

The investigation into Emond’s charges is ongoing. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact their local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
