Albertans can book influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations starting Oct. 2

Sep 28, 2023 | 2:15 PM

Albertans can now book their annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations.

These can be received at any AHS clinic or pharmacy by booking through the Alberta Vaccine Booking System, directly contacting community health clinics or by calling 811.

People are encouraged to speak with their primary care provider for guidance on immunizations and what options are best for you and your family.

“Keeping up to date on your immunizations is an excellent way to protect yourself against the coming respiratory illness season,” says Adriana LaGrange, Health Minister. “Doing what you can to prevent severe illness will also help secure our health care system for those who need it most.”

Dr. Mark Joffe, chief medical officer of health, adds that being immunized for influenza and COVID-19 can, “help protect you and your loved ones, particularly those most at risk for severe disease. Taking steps to prevent viral infections will also improve an individual’s overall health.”

Starting the week of Oct. 2, Albertans living in congregate care will be able to access respiratory virus vaccinations through their facilities.
