No Physician Coverage

Fairview Health Complex ED without doctor for 12-hour period

Alberta Health Services says due to the inability to secure physician coverage in the Fairview Health Complex’s Emergency Department, it will be without a physician for a 12-hour period on Monday, October 2.

From 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the ED will only have nurses on site for triage, assessments, and referrals for patients to go to alternate emergency departments in neighbouring communities.

If coverage is found, disruptions may be cancelled.

AHS says this is a temporary disruption and is working hard to ensure local residents have access to the care they need during this time.

911 can still be called if people are having a medical emergency and residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.
