Impaired driver report leads to drug arrest

Grande Prairie RCMP say two people are facing drug charges after a report of an impaired driver.

Mounties say that on Sunday, October 1, they got a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of 100 Avenue and 112 Street at around 1 p.m.

Police then found the suspect vehicle in a parking lot and a search ensured; Turning up what RCMP believe is 328 grams of cocaine, over 240 grams of crystal meth., and close to 379 grams of fentanyl.

Mounties also seized an airsoft gun, ammunition, a knife, four phones, $5745 cash, and other items related to selling drugs.

Two people from Grande Prairie, 36-year-old Brock Gooler and 33-year-old Cassandra Ouelette, are each facing three charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Gooler has been remanded and is due in court October 4. Ouelette was released and is due in court October 23.

RCMP are thanking the public for reporting suspected impaired drivers and suspicious vehicles, adding that this arrest shows that citizens play an important role in keeping communities safe.
