Grimshaw Community Health Centre wins 2023 Rhapsody Health-care Heroes Award

A Peace Region medical team is being recognized for their caring treatment of patients.

The Grimshaw Community Health Centre Emergency team has won the Rural Health Professions Action Plan’s Rhapsody Healthcare Heroes Award for 2023.

A video released by RhPAP highlighted the Grimshaw team’s caring treatment.

“The Emergency Team are a tight-knit group of nurses, physicians, and administrative professionals,” The video says. “They all have a caring manner and ensure that patients are seen in a timely fashion and given the most appropriate treatment.”

Nursing Manager at Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council Tara Elliot says the team inspires confidence in their patients.

“They provide quality evidence-based care in a small ER department,” Elliot says, “and you can be sure you are receiving the best care possible.”

Patient and fellow physician Dr. Ansie Capon says the Grimshaw ER team saved her infant son’s life.

“Dr. Coetzee saved my son’s life when he was only 14 days old,” Capon says. “The entire Grimshaw ER team were so competent and compassionate that day, and made a hard day so much better.”

The Rhapsody Awards celebrate individuals and teams that make significant contributions to health care in rural Alberta.
