Mail delivery stopped for some Grande Prairie homes after dog attack on Canada Post employee

Oct 5, 2023 | 3:16 PM

Canada Post says in an email to EverythingGP it has suspended delivery to some homes on 79 Avenue in Grande Prairie after a dog attacked a post office employee.

Canada Post says it happened earlier this week but did not specify a day.

An employee was delivering parcels when they were chased and bit by the dog. The bite required medical attention.

Delivery has stopped for the dog owner’s house and has been temporarily suspended to some of the neighbouring homes, which residents have been notified.

The post office says it has asked Enforcement Services to investigate the incident.

The postal service is asking customers to keep dogs inside or tied up away from the front door and mailbox, make sure dogs don’t get out when the door is opened, keep their front doors and gates closed, and to keep dogs away from screen doors, even if the door is locked.
