Women’s U18 hockey nationals start Sunday in Dawson Creek

UPDATE:  Alberta is now 1-1 at the U18 national women’s hockey championship being played in Dawson Creek after a 6-3 win Monday (November 6) over Team Atlantic.

Rylee Mcleod had a goal and an assist while Sarah Kjemhus and Molly Hamilton had one assist each.

Alberta lost its opening game to Quebec 4-1 Sunday (November 5). Mcleod had Alberta’s lone goal.

Alberta’s next game is against Saskatchewan Tuesday (November 7) at 4 p.m.

BC plays Manitoba Monday (November 6) at 7 p.m.

The host side opened with a 4-2 win over Ontario Blue Sunday (November 5). Makena Lloyd-Howe had two goals and an assist.

Hockey Canada’s 2023 National Women’s Under-18 Championship gets underway in Dawson Creek Sunday (November 5) and some players from the Peace will be representing their provinces.

Molly Hamilton of Bay Tree, Rylee Mcleod of Grande Prairie are both forwards, while Sarah Kjemhus from the Hythe/Valhalla area is on defence with Team Alberta.

Makena Lloyd-Howe from Tumbler Ridge is a forward with Team British Columbia.

Alberta will play Quebec in its opening game Sunday at 4 p.m.

BC will play Ontario Blue Sunday at 7 p.m. in its first game.

The bronze and gold medal games are set for Remembrance Day, Saturday, November 11.

All games will be played at the Ovintiv Events Centre.
