Nov 7, 2023 | 5:46 PM

November 5 to 11 is Veterans Week in Canada.

Several local ceremonies will salute those who fought and died for our country.

November 8 is Indigenous Veterans Day.

A ceremony marking the day is planned for the Veterans Memorial Garden in Grande Prairie.

People will start gathering at 9:30 a.m. with the ceremony to follow at 10:30.

The day is meant as a salute to Indigenous, Metis, and Inuit veterans.

November 11 is Remembrance Day.

The Grande Prairie branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a ceremony at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.

It will go from 10:30 to noon. A lunch, bursary awards, and other events will go the rest of the day at the Legion.

The Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Unit 389 will hold its outdoor ceremony at the cenotaph in Jubilee Park again this year.

Attendees will parade from the Trinity Lutheran Church to the cenotaph. Everyone is asked to be there by 10:30 a.m.

A lunch will follow at the Golden Age Centre.

The schools in the Peace Wapiti Public School Division are also hosting events starting on Wednesday.
