Nov 9, 2023 | 10:57 AM

Grande Prairie Storm Captain Matt Corbet has announced his commitment to Ferris State, where he intends to play NCAA Divison 1 Hockey with the Bulldogs.

In the release, Corbet said he is beyond excited for this opportunity, adding “I am honored to become a part of the Bulldogs organization and to further his hockey and academic pursuits at Ferris State.”

Corbet also said thanks to all his family, former and present teammates, coaches, and everyone else who contributed to his success along the way.

The 6’4 Calgary local spent his last three seasons with the Calgary Canucks before joining the Storm, and in 20 games he’s already put up twelve points with nine goals.

General Manager for the Storm Mike Bomersback congratulated Corbet and his family in the release, and would go on to say “Matt is a mature young man who represents everything we want in our organization. He is a great addition for the Bulldogs and we look forward to his continued success this season and beyond at Ferris State.”

Corbet will take his talents south to Big Rapids, Michigan next season to join the Bulldogs, who are currently 3-4-1.

The Storm and Captain Corbet will be back in action on Sunday, November 12 at the Bonnett’s Energy Centre, with puck drop set for 2 p.m.
