County of Grande Prairie launches shelterbelt program

The County of Grande Prairie is offering residents a new program to help protect their land from erosion.
The county is introducing a shelterbelt program where residents can browse a selection of trees or shrubs, purchase them online and pick them up in 2024 to plant on their property.
Shelterbelt plants are proven to protect soil, improve air and water quality, enhance wildlife habitats, and beautify landscapes.
The program is only available to county residents with no reimbursement or warranty on the plants surviving or guaranteeing that all orders will be filled.
