Come Together Christmas Campaign kicks off

Nov 21, 2023 | 12:10 PM

Pattison Media’s Come Together Christmas Campaign official kick-off was seen and heard on Tuesday morning as Big Country 93.1 and 98.9 Rewind Radio have “Come Together” for the second holiday season.

Morning show hosts Tyler Wold of Rewind and Lyle West of Big Country broadcast their shows live from the Eastlink Centre to promote the launch of the donation campaign.

Wold says the reasoning behind the joint initiative was to reach a broader audience and help as many non-profits as possible.

“What we wanted to do is instead of being apart at Christmas time and having two different promotions running at the same time trying to collect as many funds or donations, we thought a better way to do this is to do it all at once.” -Wold

“We want to make sure we help as many Peace country families in need cause there’s need of course for food, but also gifts.” -West

Donations of gifts, non-perishable food, and personal hygiene items can be dropped off at a number of locations in the city, including:

  • Canadian Tire
  • CDN Controls
  • City Furniture
  • Crackmasters
  • Eastlink Centre
  • Frontier Eatery & Seafood
  • Interior Offroad / Integra Tire
  • Knoblauch & Associates – The Co-operator’s
  • Laser Tag Central
  • Motion Canada
  • Prairie Mall
  • Prairie Villa Insurance
  • Ranchlands Apartment Homes
  • Rebel Fit Nutrition
  • Red-Line Power Craft
  • Standard Auto Glass
  • Strasdin Sanga Orthodontics

West says as two media powerhouses in Grande Prairie, they can reach a larger demographic of listeners together.

“We want to make sure that if there’s kids out there that may not have an opportunity to have a present underneath the Christmas tree… to make sure that happens for them.” -West

Some examples of items that can be donated for gifts are:

  • Toys
  • Blankets
  • Books
  • Sports equipment
  • Books
  • Games

At the end of the collection period of the campaign, the Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie will help collect, box, and sort donations to be handed out to multiple non-profits for Christmas hamper programs.

Wold says the donations will be going to places in need across the Peace Country.

“We have food banks in Hythe and Sexsmith that are looking for donations, as well as across the Peace Country, so as we come together, we invite you to come together with us so we can reach as many people as we can this Christmas season.” -Wold

There is also a new way of donating to the campaign that launched this year. If you want to donate monetarily, it can be done from the comfort of your own home via e-transfer to: cometogether@pattisonmedia.com.
