Toys for Tickets campaign

Alberta Health Services accepting toys as payment for parking tickets

Nov 23, 2023 | 11:09 AM

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is bringing back their own Toys for Tickets campaign this holiday season.

The campaign, similar to the one in the City of Red Deer, gives people who’ve recently received an AHS parking ticket an opportunity to donate a new, unwrapped toy rather than paying their fine.

“Last year was a huge success as we collected more than 470 toys province wide,” said Nick Ternovatsky, Director of Parking, AHS. “Given its past success and positive reception, we are happy to launch it once again this holiday season.”

Parking Services will be accepting toy donations as an alternative to paying for tickets issued between November 6 and December 15, 2023. Toys should be in the original packaging, and for ages newborn to 17 years. The value of each toy must be of similar value owed on the ticket and at least $25.

AHS says the toys will be donated to various children foundations and charity organizations to be given to children throughout the province.

Toys will be accepted until Dec. 15 at any AHS parking office. In Red Deer, the office is located at the Red Deer Regional Hospital (3942 50a Ave.).

Recommended donations include books, art supplies, science kits, electronics, headphones, Lego sets, portable DVD players, rattles, baby toys, journals, activity books, crayons, colouring books, and gift cards for grocery stores and restaurants for families.

Visit the AHS website for the Red Deer AHS parking office hours and location, as well as for information on the Toys for Tickets campaign.
