Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools is celebrating a Mother Teresa student for her “hard work and passion.”

Originally, Grade 8 student Gracelyn Karpiak started collecting donations for the homeless while trick-or-treating this year, which then spiraled into a massive project.

Thanks to support from the community, Karpiak collected over 100 packs of toques, gloves, socks, and hand-warmers, along with a bucket full of women’s products, including clothes and hygiene items to be given out to the Grande Prairie residents experiencing homelessness.

In a release, the division thanked all the families and local businesses that helped with this project, going on to say “Words cannot express how proud we are of Gracelyn.”
