City launches new microgrant program for youth in Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie has launched a microgrant program specifically for youth aged 13-30 residing in the city.

The Communities Building Youth Futures Microgrant Program will distribute up to $750 per successful applicant to be used on needs such as; transportation, education materials, work attire, or certification fees.

Mayor Jackie Clayton discussed the program in a release,

“Young people in our community often face small but significant barriers in their pursuit of education and employment.”

“This Microgrant Program is our way of saying, ‘We believe in you and are here to support your journey’.”

A form to apply is available on the City’s website, however, applicants must reside, work, attend school, or access services in Grande Prairie and be able to identify a financial barrier to be eligible.

In the same release, the City says the user-friendly web form is straightforward, with the CBYF team being strongly committed to timely responses so they can provide support right away.

The deadline to apply is set for March 1, 2024, or when all the money has been disbursed, so it’s encourage residents apply as soon as possible.
