Nitehawk opening, hockey, all-star high school volleyball on this weekend
Skiing
It is opening weekend at Nitehawk.
The ski hill will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Tube Zone will be open from noon-2 and 2:30-4:30 on both days.

Storm
The Storm will host Calgary this weekend.
Ganes times are at 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Both will be played at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.
The Storm have 30 points so far this season and are in 11th place in the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s overall standings.
The Cancuks have 38 points and sit 5th overall.
NWJHL
The Northwest Junior Hockey League schedule resumes Friday with La Crete in Fairview, Sexsmith in Peace River, the County Wheat Kings at Dawson Creek, and Fort St. John in Beaverlodge.
All those games start at 8 p.m.
Saturday, Fort St. John in Sexsmith starts at 7 p.m.
La Crete in Beaverlodge, Dawson Creek in Peace River and Fairview at the Wheat Kings all start at 8 p.m.
La Crete is in Dawson Creek on Sunday. Face-off at 2 p.m.
NPHL
In the North Peace Hockey League Friday, Grande Prairie visits Fort St. John and Dawson Creek is in Manning.
Saturday, Spirit River in Manning and Valleyview in Falher.
All games start at 8:30.
Volleyball
The Wolves will host their High School Volleyball All-Star Games Saturday.
Grade 10 to 12 kids from across the Peace who were nominated by their coaches and picked by Wolves coaches will take part.
The girl’s game will start at 6 p.m.
The boy’s game follows at 8 p.m.
Curling
Curling’s Western Showdown is on this weekend in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
On the women’s side, Kayla Skrlik is 2-1 after a 6-3 win over North Battleford, Saskatchewan’s Robyn Silvernagle.
Skrlik will next play American Tabitha Peterson.
On the men’s side, Kevin Koe is 1-1 after a loss last night to the Michael Brunner team from Switzerland.
The Koe team will play another Yannick Schwaller’s team from Switzerland in their next game.
