Construction of new health complex in Beaverlodge to start in the spring says provincial government

The province says construction of a new health complex in Beaverlodge will start in the New Year.

In a release, the Alberta government will support the Town of Beaverlodge and Landrex Inc. in building what it calls “a state-of-the-art health complex.”

This new building will be the long-awaited replacement for the current Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital.

The province says what will be called the Mountview Health Complex will be built on 20 acres of land donated by the McFarlane family.

Services offered will include hospital care for serious health concerns, outpatient care, ambulance services, clinical support services, and community health.

Design is expected to start soon with construction getting going in the spring.

The government says Alberta Health Services will lease space in the new, 9,000 square metre facility from an organization called the Mountview Health Limited Partnership.

The current hospital was built in 1956 and people have been advocating for a replacement for several years.
