Alberta hunters encouraged to share wild meat with the food bank

Dec 14, 2023 | 11:49 AM

Alberta Hunters Sharing Harvest is encouraging hunters with surplus harvest, to consider donating to the food bank.

Through a program delivered and monitored by AHS, the Edmonton Food Bank is seeking donations of harvested white-tail deer, mule deer, elk or moose to be used to provide meals in soup kitchens and shelters.

AHS does strictly monitor this program, and donors, along with recipient organizations must meet specific requirements.

Established in 1996, and formerly known as Alberta Hunters Who Care, Alberta Hunters Sharing Harvest says through the generosity of hunters, the Edmonton Food Bank can distribute wild meats as an ingredient to their partnering agencies.

Anyone interested in donating their surplus harvest can call 780-443-6006, for more information and how to donate, or visit the Edmonton Food Bank website.
