Project at St. Thomas More Catholic School in Fairview paused

Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools and the Peace River School Division said in a joint news release that St. Thomas More Catholic School in Fairview is now without a building.

The release says what it calls a mandatory increased project scope plus the cost to remove asbestos means a project at the current building has now been paused.

The two school divisions say they are still working with Northwestern Polytechnic on plans for new schools in Fairview but add that having a new building ready would not happen for at least five years.

STM students have been taking classes at the NWP campus in Fairview since the start of the current school year.
