UPDATE: Tanker roll-over on Highway 43 cleaned up

UPDATE:

County Regional Fire Hazardous Material crews have finished their clean-up and successfully transferred the diesel from the overturned tanker.

County Crews have now left the scene, however, flag personnel, Alberta Environment, and the responsible trucking company remain at the incident to remediate the spill.

In the release, the County still asks motorists approaching the incident to slow down, as flag personnel will remain at the scene until the tanks can be removed.

At this time, no more updates from the County are expected.

County Regional Fire crews have provided an update on the Tanker truck rollover on Highway 43, near the BC border.

Motorists traveling in the area are being advised that traffic continues to alter between east and westbound lanes until the clean-up process has finished.

Currently, the County’s Regional Fire Service Hazardous Material team is on the scene, and vacuum trucks have gained access to the spilled tanker, emptying the remaining diesel.

The Hazardous Material crews are now working to unload the remaining contents from the tanker.

County Regional Fire Crews are on the scene of a rolled-over tanker truck on Highway 43 at Range Road 133.

The County asks any drivers approaching the area to slow down, as a clean-up of diesel spilled from the truck is underway.

County fire crews from Hythe, Clairmont, and Beaverlodge are on the scene, with the County’s hazardous materials team on route to limit the spill.

No injuries have been reported and the spill does not pose a risk to the public

The County asks any motorists near the scene to watch for traffic control personnel, as traffic flow is being affected while crews clean up.

More updates are expected.
