New Sunrise House almost ready to open

Officials say the new Sunrise House Youth Emergency Shelter is almost ready for its first occupants.

It has been under construction at the new location just west of the Great Northern Casino.

The Grande Prairie Youth Emergency Shelter Society says in a social media post that they hope to be open before Christmas.

The society is asking for donations to help stock the housing units and kitchen.

A gift registry with Canadian Tire has been created for anyone wanting to help by giving money or by buying an item. The registry can be found here.

The people at the shelter ask anyone who buys one of the items clicks on “someone else will pick up my gift” when completing their purchase, and then add Tanya Wald and tanya@gpyess.ca.

Anyone who can help the shelter move is asked to call Lee at 780-539-3087 or email lee@gpyess.ca.
