ASIRT called in after suspect in hostage-taking shot by police
Grande Prairie RCMP say a woman being held hostage in her home by a man with a gun on Wednesday December 20, led to the suspect being shot by police and both he and the woman held hostage were taken to hospital.
Mounties say they were called out to the dispute at 11:00 a.m. to a home in northwest Grande Prairie. Police say the man had assaulted and injured the woman and fired the gun inside the home.
RCMP were able to contain the area and get inside the home and bring the woman out to bring her to safety.
After Mounties exited the residence, the suspect fired his weapon. Officers shot back, hitting the 42-year-old man.
